Archbuild Homes: Deborah

A challenging upper floor extension addition in Sydney, Eastwood

Upper floor extension addition is always challenging. This project was super challenging because it was on a very small block and the house was a very small two-bedroom brick veneer house. The client wanted to add an additional upper floor extension to maximise the space for their expanding family. Because of the challenges involved both for design and build, the client was not able to find anyone to help them out till they contacted Archbuild. The property used to be a granny flat behind another property, which the previous owner had subdivided into a separate title. For this reason, going through the complying development process was not possible because, according to the current planning laws, the property would not comply, let alone its offer for extension. So the only way forward was going through development approval with Council. Which we provide no guarantee because it would require a lot of back-and-forth and reports and justifications with the council to make sure the soul of the law in the planning regulations was still respected and not violated. Mike Movaffaghi took over the project and managed with his team to get approval from Council and then they went on with building the upper extension along with a major renovation to the ground floor. At the end, the client was very happy because of the massive value that was delivered by Archbuild and a significant value added to their property.
