Archbuild is a Sydney team of architects and builders delivering luxury custom homes, major renovations and selected residential projects through one coordinated design and construction process.

Archbuild was established to provide a more coordinated approach to residential design and construction.

In a traditional project, architectural design and building delivery are often handled by separate businesses. This can create gaps between design ambition, construction cost, buildability, documentation and the final result.

Archbuild brings these disciplines together. Our architects and builders consider the home from both perspectives—how it should look and function, and how it will be approved, documented, constructed and delivered.

Closing the Gap Between Design and Construction
Archbuild was created in response to a recurring problem in residential building: well-designed homes can become difficult or unnecessarily expensive to construct when design decisions are made without sufficient construction input.

At the same time, homes designed primarily around standard building systems may not fully respond to the client, the land or the architectural opportunities of the property.

Archbuild’s purpose is to connect these two sides of the process. We aim to create homes with genuine architectural character while considering buildability, cost, approvals and construction requirements from the early stages.

Since graduating from university in 2001, Mike Movaffaghi has contributed to a diverse range of residential, commercial, public and government projects in Australia and internationally.

By 2020, the combined construction value of these projects exceeded $1 billion, reflecting experience across architectural design, construction management, consultant coordination and major project delivery.

This breadth of experience now supports Archbuild’s residential work, bringing the discipline and coordination of larger projects into the design and construction of carefully considered homes.

Mike founded Archbuild in 2020 to bring architectural design, construction knowledge and project delivery together within one coordinated practice.
​
As a registered architect, licensed builder and PMP®-certified project manager, Mike approaches each project from architectural, technical, construction and delivery perspectives. His role includes guiding the design direction, assessing buildability, coordinating consultants, planning construction and maintaining continuity between the original design intent and the completed home.
​
Mike remains directly involved in Archbuild’s projects, working with clients and the project team from the early stages of feasibility and design through approvals, construction and completion.
​
His professional experience began after graduating from university in 2001 and includes residential, commercial, public and government projects in Australia and internationally. By 2020, the combined construction value of projects to which he had contributed exceeded $1 billion.
